  • Less effort, more efficiency: On-site appointments are utilized optimally—saving time, reducing costs, and accelerating the project launch.
  • Munich, 22.07.2025 – Energiekonzepte Deutschland GmbH (EKD), Europe’s third-largest provider of solar systems is leveraging the support of Aurora Solar, the leading provider of AI-powered design and sales technologies in the field of photovoltaics (PV). By joining forces, the two companies are now optimizing end-to-end efficiency throughout the entire sales and design process for photovoltaic systems and year-round energy solutions.

A central component of this collaboration is the Expert Design Services. Aurora Solar’s designers can generate a system design in as little as 30 minutes. Through interfaces (APIs) connecting to the CRM system and other software tools utilized by EKD, a seamless workflow is established, significantly accelerating the initial planning process.

This cloud-based solution enables EKD to plan solar installations with precision right from the sales consultation stage—allowing all available options to be transparently presented to prospective system owners as early as the initial meeting. This process is underpinned by LiDAR and high-resolution satellite data. The resulting sales presentations offer compelling visualizations and explain the underlying technology in a manner that is not only engaging but also easy to understand. Furthermore, because they are template-based and automatically generated, they simultaneously help conserve EKD’s resources. This combination of rapid response times, compelling visuals, and customization options significantly boosts customer acceptance during appointments—even enabling contracts to be finalized during the very first meeting.

“Thanks to Aurora Solar, we are not only significantly shortening our sales cycle but also creating a visual experience that delights our customers,” explains Christopher Döring, Head of Sales at EKD. “The combination of technical precision and emotional appeal is a true game changer. In doing so, we are investing in both technology and customer experiences. Aurora helps us turn our vision of a modern, transparent, and inspiring energy world into reality.”

PV Planning Reimagined: Faster, More Efficient, Customer-Centric

Aurora Solar views the rapid and comprehensive empowerment of platform users as a key lever for realizing targeted workflow efficiency gains—through intensive training and instruction, sales partners unlock the full potential of the solution.

Customers benefit in multiple ways: early-stage planning during the initial consultation significantly shortens the overall project duration. Aurora Solar’s platform enables the automated creation of a 3D model of the property, simulates solar paths, and calculates energy yield and self-consumption—thereby facilitating a transparent economic analysis in real time.

    Digitalization as a Growth Factor

The collaboration between EKD and Aurora Solar is more than just a technology project—it is a strategic step toward transforming the PV industry in Europe. “What unites us with EKD is the conviction that digitalization and automation are key drivers for the solar market of the future,” says Christopher Hopper, Co-founder and CEO of Aurora Solar. “Our shared goal is to make solar energy more accessible, understandable, and economically viable for everyone.”

  • Munich’s municipal utility is now planning PV systems significantly faster: proposals generated with Aurora AI in one-third of the time.
  • Aurora Solar has optimized its products for German roofs: AI correctly identifies specifically German roof shapes, pitches, windows, and shading.
  • More Data, More Precision: 4x more data input enables a more accurate and interactive user experience.
  • Munich, 24.06.2025 – Stadtwerke München (SWM), one of Germany’s largest municipal energy providers, is now collaborating with Aurora Solar, the leading provider of AI-powered design and sales technologies in the field of photovoltaics (PV). The goal of the partnership is to make solar planning even more efficient, faster, and customer-friendly through the use of artificial intelligence.

Aurora AI, Aurora Solar’s flagship product, enables Stadtwerke München to plan precise solar projects within minutes—entirely without an on-site visit. By integrating high-resolution satellite and LiDAR data—along with a machine-learning AI trained on a global dataset of over 20 million solar projects—planning quality is significantly enhanced. LiDAR data constitutes a central component of this technology, providing exact information on roof pitches, obstructions, and surrounding structures, thereby enabling precise 3D models for informed planning.

“The partnership with Aurora Solar marks a milestone in our digital strategy,” says Dr. Thomas Lüers, Head of Decentralized Energy Solutions at Stadtwerke München. “Aurora AI enables us not only to generate quotes more efficiently but also to model the typical challenges of German roofs with greater accuracy—for instance, in the case of terraced houses with pitched roofs and specific shading conditions. Many tools proved unequal to these complex realities, but with Aurora Solar’s platform, we have now found the optimal digital process to meet our requirements.”

Thanks to recent advancements, Aurora AI now utilizes four times as many data sources as it did just last year. Aurora Solar now distinguishes itself through a deep understanding of the German market. Specific characteristics—such as highly variable roof shapes, regional building codes, and complex shading analyses resulting from dense urban development—are all taken into account by Aurora AI.

The software delivers a fully interactive user experience, enabling customers to simulate various scenarios in real time—including economic and technical parameters such as yield forecasts, self-consumption, and payback periods. For SWM, the entire quotation process now takes just four minutes instead of twelve, requiring significantly less manual effort.

“This partnership impressively demonstrates how we can make a concrete contribution to the energy transition through modern technology,” says Christopher Hopper, Co-founder and CEO of Aurora Solar. “When cities like Munich embrace scalable, digital solutions, the energy transition becomes a transition of feasibility.”
